Formed in 1888, Celtic can boast of 42 Scottish championship titles and 34 Scottish cup victories, as well as success in the European Cup and many other prestigious competitions, and also of a following that is as loyal and fervent as any worldwide.

It is interesting to note that the clubs magazine, The Celtic View, is the oldest magazine in the game having been first published as long ago as 1965, and these days it is as popular as ever with the fans, over 60,000 of whom routinely visit the majestic Celtic Park for home matches, and many thousands that follow the team from city to city across the country and around Europe.

Current manager Tony Mowbray is known for assembling a crack squad of players, and many of the best footballers in the British game have played in the green and white hoops. The tradition continues with the modern team, for Celtic go head to head with deadly rivals Rangers in the coming season with verve and style as usual, and the fans will wait with baited breath for the result.

Doyens of the Catholic and Irish contingent in Scotland, Celtic have only Rangers to match them for popularity.
